Check list for dismantling your waterbed
For your safety, please ensure the heater system is unplugged before you begin to drain the bed. This is a critical step, as a heater left plugged in will overheat as the water level drops.
Using your pump, begin to drain the mattress. If you have a dual mattress system and are unable to connect the pump to both at the same time, drain each mattress in stages. Drain one side by about 3 inches, then switch to the other side and drain it by the same amount. Continue this process until both sides are empty.
With the mattress now drained, it’s a good time to clean it. Wipe down the top and bottom edges with vinyl cleaner and let them dry. Once that’s done, you’re ready to fold it. Start by folding the head end down over the middle of the mattress, then do the same with the foot end. Finally, fold the entire mattress in half from left to right and remove it from the bed, and place it in a strong box. Be sure to handle it carefully to avoid any damage. The mattress could still be very heavy so lifting it out would be best with two people.
For best results, we always suggest replacing the safety liner. However, if you’re keeping your current one, be sure to clean it with vinyl cleaner. Once that’s done, just fold it up and place it with the mattress for storage. This applies whether you have a hardsided or a softsided bed.
With the safety liner now removed, the heater pad is exposed. You can now remove the heater. The heater pad has a wire that connects to a control box. In most cases, this is a simple plug that can be disconnected from the control box to make it easier to remove the heater from the bed.
Hardsided Waterbeds: Hardsided waterbeds are typically held together with screws or bolts. Begin by unscrewing any brackets that connect the wooden frame to the decking boards. Once you’ve identified the method used, unscrew or unbolt the rest of the frame to take it apart.
Softsided Waterbeds: The foam shoulders of softsided waterbeds are usually attached to the decking boards with screws. While we recommend checking your instruction manual, you can generally remove the foam shoulders from the zippered cover by unscrewing them all.
Keep the screws/bolts and brackets in a container well away from the mattress.
Now, lift out the decking boards and place them away from the bed base. Each base is built slightly differently depending on the manufacturer and type—some are a simple four-board base, while others may have drawers. To disassemble the base, look for the screws or clips that hold it together. Once you find them and remove them, the base will come apart easily.

I just wanted to say thank you for the help regarding my decision to buy the best drain and pump system for my recent house move.
It clearly is a superb system and it had my KS water bed drained in 20 mins.
I had to delay setting the bed up in my new property due to work needed in the house and also painting etc., but happy to report the pump worked like a dream in reverse and I have my water bed back.

This is a great pump. It only took 15 minutes to drain my king bed down. Just wish i’d of gone for the thick outlet hose pipe instead of using my own.
